WHO AM I
Raul Huerta
My name is Raul Huerta, and I am a video editor with over seven years of experience. My key skills include digital and social media marketing, creating engaging recaps, and mastering Final Cut Pro. I recently graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema and Digital Media and a Minor in Art Studio.
During my time on campus, I was involved with Aggie Studios, an award-winning, student-run video production studio affiliated with the Associated Students of the University of California, Davis (ASUCD). As a video editor, I worked on media projects for local businesses in the Davis community and collaborated with third-party companies. I also created highlight promos for music festivals.
Throughout my years in video editing, I have focused on capturing the spirit and identity of each project I undertake. Working with local businesses has taught me that each one is unique, reflecting its own values and beliefs. My role as a video editor allows me to visually showcase these aspects of their identity and demonstrate their vision and aspirations.

Synopsis
The student film "Ghost AI" was created for an Experimental Documentary class at UC Davis, where Professor Darin Martin instructed students to research and utilize a current AI tool while providing their perspective on it. My partner, Ri, and I chose to explore the ethical concerns surrounding consent and ownership in AI replication by engaging with Eternal AI, a website that allows users to communicate with AI-emulated historical and celebrity figures.
Inspired by "81 Questions, 81 Days: Ai Weiwei vs AI," we interviewed AI avatars of Princess Diana, Heath Ledger, Kobe Bryant, Juice WRLD, and John Lennon. We used a screen recording technique to create a desktop cinema style, focusing on discussing their opinions about AI replication and the legal ambiguities related to using public figures' likenesses. This approach differed from the site's original intent, as we wanted to observe how the AI avatars addressed these questions and to compare their answers.
Our short film received the Best Editing award at the 2024 UC Davis Film Festival and was also showcased at the 2024 Butte Film Festival at the Oroville State Theatre.
